“Sama” was created as part of the “RA” project, a deeply personal and challenging film I wrote, directed, and shot. The story focuses on a sensitive and harrowing topic: sexual harassment and assault, specifically the exploitation of young children. In the case of Sama, the narrative follows a young girl trapped in her mind, where the trauma manifests as an invisible yet palpable force shaping her reality.

To approach such a delicate subject, I deliberately chose long, quiet scenes that convey the profound turmoil Sama endures. These still moments allow the audience to feel the weight of her experience without directly witnessing the assault itself. By leaving the violence offscreen, the film invites viewers to imagine the horrors, making the emotional impact even stronger and more unsettling.

This stylistic choice reflects my belief in the power of subtlety and restraint, focusing not on the act but its aftermath and the psychological scars it leaves behind. Through “Sama,” I sought to create a poignant, thought-provoking piece that sheds light on an often-hidden reality while maintaining respect for the gravity of the subject matter. It was a deeply challenging project, both emotionally and artistically, but one that reaffirmed my commitment to using film as a medium for meaningful storytelling.
